The Warrior

"Then Interpreter took Christian, and led him up towards the door of the palace; and behold, at the door stood a great company of men, desiring to go in, but could not. There also sat a man at a little distance from the door, at a table, with a notebook and his ink before him, to take the names of them that should enter therein; Christian saw also that in the doorway stood many men in armor, being resolved to do whatever was needed to keep anyone from entering. Now was Christian somewhat amazed. At last, when every man quit for fear of the armed men, Christian saw a man of a very strong confidence come up to the man that sat there to write, saying, "Write my name down, sir;" when the man at the desk was done, Christian saw the determined man draw his sword, put a helmet on his head, and rush towards the door. The armed men attacked him with deadly force; but the man, not at all discouraged, continued to cutting and hacking more fiercely. So after he had received and given many wounds
to those that attempted to keep him out, he cut his way through them all, and pressed forward into the palace; at which there was a pleasant voice heard clearly saying, "Come in, come in, Eternal glory thou shalt win." So the determined man went in, and was clothed with such grand garments as they had. Then Christian smiled, and said, I think I know the meaning of this. John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress

Interpreter has been showing Christian different rooms. In each room there is a scene that helps him understand the life he now is about to experience. In this particular scene Christian learns that those following Christ should expect attacks.
"From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it." Matthew 11:12

As Christians, we spend a lot of energy fighting people. We spend too much energy fighting political battles, so much so, we are losing our identities. Instead of being known as Christ followers, we are being called religious conservatives. We must remember that we are fighting a spiritual battle.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so
that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this
dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of
truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all
this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God." Ephesians 6:10-18
