The Way is Narrow!

"I beheld then, that they all went on till they came to the foot of the hill called Difficulty, at the bottom of which was a spring. There was also in the same place two other ways besides that which came straight from the Gate; one turned to the left hand and the other to the right, at the bottom of the hill; but the narrow way lay right up the Hill. Christian now went to the spring, and drank to refresh himself, and then began to go up the hill, saying,

The Hill, tho’ high, I covet to ascend,
The difficulty will not me offend;
For I perceive the way to life lies here:
Come, pluck up, Heart, let’s neither faint nor fear;
Better, tho’ difficult, the right way to go,
Than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe." John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress
Christian, has met two men who have gained access to the Way by climbing over a wall. They believe they are safe, because they are in the same place as Christian. Christian gained access by being invited. This was grace and grace alone. The two men gained access by their own actions.

As the three walk, they are met with three roads. One goes straight, one goes left, and the other goes right. Christian, chooses to stay on the straight and narrow path that leads straight.

"Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." Proverbs 4:25-27

There are many roads to take today. Most of these ways have people that promote these roads as the best way. Some of these roads have church leaders as a guide. We are chastised by being too straight and too narrow. The problem is the Way is very straight and extremely narrow. The Ways is so narrow, there is no room for self, for sin, for pride. Those must be left behind.

Another problem is that there is a host of people who are stuck at the fork in the road. They are neither choosing the left, right, or straight. They are deluded if they think that no decision will save them. Destruction is coming up from behind him. They have seat down and proclaimed all ways are correct and there is no danger. They are deceived!

"The one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do." James 1:7-8

Any questions, stay on the straight and narrow path. Still have questions?

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all  without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt," James 1:5-6
